Tŷ Cerdd’s mission is to promote and celebrate the music of Wales

We’re here:

  • to bring the music of Wales to audiences across our nation, and to the rest of the world.

  • to protect the legacy of Welsh music of the past, and to nurture Welsh music of now and the future.

  • to support professionals and non-professionals, performers and audiences, to perform, compose and experience Welsh music.

In the professional sector

We work across Wales, with composers, performers and organisations. We have an in-house recording studio, record label (Tŷ Cerdd Records) and publishing imprint, a hire library, and our own collection of Welsh music. We also have a valuable connection with the National Library of Wales (NLW), which holds our Tŷ Cerdd archive; we are currently working with NLW to digitise important works from their collection (with manuscripts made available for all to view at, and new performing editions from our Tŷ Cerdd online shop).

With non-professionals

We have a membership of societies and groups from around Wales – we provide them with expertise and promotional support, help them to connect with composers and audiences, and offer a range of services (such as hire library, advice, discount packages and programme notes).

We administer five strands of Lottery funding (for the Arts Council of Wales), through which we enable a range of work in communities, and support commissioning of Wales-based composers.

Tŷ Cerdd – Music Centre Wales receives funding from the Arts Council of Wales.
